Meghalaya CM visits Oxygen manufacturing plant

“If the need arises we should be better prepared,” the Chief Minister said, even as he voiced hope that the State does not have to face difficulties like other States in having oxygen.

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday visited an oxygen manufacturing plant in Byrnihat, Ri-Bhoi district and sought its support in case of exigencies in the near future.
Sangma after visiting the plant said the State is “fortunate to have the plant” and added the objective of the visit is to prepare for emergencies if the need arises.
“If the need arises we should be better prepared,” the Chief Minister said, even as he voiced hope that the State does not have to face difficulties like other States in having oxygen.
The Chief Minister, however, maintained that the State has to be prepared for all eventualities.
“Visited the plan to see they are not facing any difficulties and also ensure there is coordination between the management here and the health department and district administration for logistic support or future logistic support,” he added.
Sangma further said the management of the plant has assured the State and the health of its population would be “given priority” under all circumstances.
Meanwhile, three oxygen manufacturing plants have been installed in the State Capital. The three plants have been installed, one each at Shillong Civil Hospital, Ganesh Das and RP Chest Hospital.
Moreover, three more such plants would be installed in East Khasi Hills district (Shillong Civil Hospital,) Tura, West Garo Hills and Jowai, West Jaintia Hills districts.
These three plants would be installed under the PM-CARES fund, health Minister AL Hek said.
