Ccpur: Towards the realisation of Chief Minister N Biren’s commitment, the Churachandpur District Administration and Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi (a prominent philanthropic organisation) jointly organised a tree plantation under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative Thursday at Tolphei under Tuibong TD Block.
Significantly, the tree plantation drive was taken up at land deforested for poppy cultivation, in an effort to rejuvenate the land. About 400 saplings of fruit bearing tree were planted for every girl child born between March 2020 and March 2021 in the drive today.
It may be recalled that the Chief Minister during his visit to the district on the occasion of Van Mahotsav celebration in June last stressed the need for large scale tree plantation in order to maintain ecological balance.
