Aurangabad: Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded 40 new cases of Covid-19 and five deaths in past 24 hours, the health authorities said on Monday.
According to the details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI, out of eight districts of the region, Beed reported eight new cases and two deaths followed by Aurangabad, which had nine cases and a single death.
Latur has recorded four new cases and single death, Parbhani has two cases and single death, Osmanabad has seven cases, Nanded has five cases, Jalna has four cases and one case in Hingoli, the health authorities said.
Meanwhile, 1,715 fresh cases of coronavirus were recorded in the past 24 hours across the state, taking the total number of infections to 65,91,697.
The state also registered 29 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,39,789.
Till now, 2,680 patients have recovered in the state, pushing the total number of recoveries to 64,19,678.
The recovery rate currently stands at 97.39 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.
At present, there are 28,631 active cases across Maharashtra, the health authorities added.
