Manipuri film included in BA Manipuri syllabus

Imphal: The subject of Manipuri Film has been added to the syllabus of the BA Manipuri course at Rabindranath Tagore University, a public state university in Hojai, Assam, established under the Rabindranath Tagore University Act, 2017.

Beginning in the 2024-25 academic year, this subject will be taught in the fifth-semester Honours course. The course, divided into three units and carrying 80 marks, will be covered over 20 sessions. The three units include: Status of Manipuri Film, Manipuri Documentary and Short Films, and Matamgi Manipur and Sanabi.

The course, titled Manipuri Film, aims to:

1. Provide knowledge about the trends and current status of Manipuri films in society,
2. Highlight the significance and influence of Manipuri cinema, and
3. Explore the role of films in promoting Manipuri culture.
