Manipur: Two poppy planters arrested, several acres poppy plantations destroyed

Two poppy planters, Seiboigin Baite, Secretary of L.Lhangnom Village  and Soginlun Baite, Member of L. Lhangnom Village under Saikul Sub-division, Kangpokpi District were also arrested.

Imphal: A combined team of District Police Imphal East led by SDPO, Lamlai assisted by NAB, Forest department officials, 4th AR with Executive Magistrate, Saikul, Kangpokpi District conducted a poppy destruction drive Monday in L. Lhangnom Hill Range in which about 22 (twenty two) acres of illegal poppy plantations were destroyed. 

Two poppy planters, Seiboigin Baite, Secretary of L.Lhangnom Village  and Soginlun Baite, Member of L. Lhangnom Village under Saikul Sub-division, Kangpokpi District were also arrested.

A regular case has been registered at Sagolmang Police station for further investigation. 

On the same day, a combined team of Tengnoupal District Police, NAB,  Forest department under the supervision of  SP, Tengnoupal destroyed illegal poppy plantations around 55 acres in SL Zougam Village Hill Range  and around 20 acres in Khudei Chilean Village Hill Range. 

As a part of war on drugs 2.0, combined teams in continuation of the destruction of illegal poppy plantation, Monday, a total of 97 acres of illegal poppy plantation in various districts were destroyed and two illegal poppy planters were also arrested, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
