Manipur: Two arrested with opium by Bishnupur police

Two packets suspected to be opium weighing about 3.3 kgs (including the wrapping material) were found in their possession.

Imphal: As part of War on Drugs 2.0 a team of commando unit of Bishnupur police detained two persons along with 3.3 kgs of suspected opium (Kani) on Tuesday evening.

The accused, identified as Raju Bhattarai, 27, son of Bishnu Bhattarai of New Keithelmanbi near ABI Checkon  and  Khaihen Kipgen, 47,  son of late Thongkhomang Kipgen of Khoiripok  village, Kangmong Maning, were detained while the police party conducted a surprise frisking and checking near Leimaram Waroiching outpost at about 8.30 pm.

Two packets suspected to be opium weighing about 3.3 kgs (including the wrapping material) were found in their possession.

The arrested accused persons along with recovered items were handed over to the Officer-in Charge, Nambol Police Station for further investigation.
