Manipur sees 7 Covid deaths, lowest since May 7; 775 infections

Imphal: With a single-day rise of 775 cases, Manipur’s COVID-19 tally has climbed to 57,351, while the death toll due to the viral disease has shot up to 915 with seven more people succumbing to it, the lowest in one month, authorities said on Wednesday.

According to a bulletin issued by the Manipur government’s health department, over 8,944 tests were conducted to detect COVID cases in the last 24 hours, the bulletin said, adding that more than 6573 people were inoculated against the disease in the said period.
Seven people – one each at Babina and District Hospital Churachandpur, two at RIMS and three at JNIMS expired. Among them, three were from Imphal West, one each from Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching and Churachandpur.

The number of daily recoveries is almost similar with yesterday, as a total of 602 patients, including home isolation, recovered from the deadly disease on Wednesday, taking the total number of recoveries to 47,129 in the state. The recovery rate presently stands at 82.17 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1401 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 552 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
