Imphal: The situation in Manipur arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic, is getting worse by the day with a single-day record death of 20 persons in the last 24 hours leading up to 5:00 pm of Tuesday, taking the cumulative death toll in the state to T 509. During the same period, 592 persons (284 males, 308 females) from the general population were confirmed as new COVIDI9 positive cases while 195 persons recovered, as per an official release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.
The 20 persons who succumbed in the last 24 hours are, a female resident of Churachndpur aged 79 yrs, a male from Imphal West aged 55 yrs, a male resident of Imphal West aged 56 yrs, a female from Imphal East aged 55 yrs, another female from Imphal East aged 35 yrs, a female from Kakching aged 70 yrs, a female from Kakching aged 85 yrs, a male resident of Imphal East aged 54 yrs, a male from Thoubal aged 61 yrs, a male from Imphal East aged 48 yrs, a female from Chandel aged 57 yrs, a male from Imphal East aged 54 yrs, a male from Imphal East aged 53 yrs, a 51-year-old female from Thoubal, 55-year-old, male from Imphal West, a 55-year-old, male from Kamjong, a 71-year-old, female from Imphal West, a 77-year-old, male from Imphal East, a 51-year-old, male from Thoubal and a 58-year-old, male from Imphal West, expired at at DH Churachandpur (I), Shija Hospital (4), CCC Kakching (2), Raj Medicity (1). JNIMS (5) and RIMS (7).
Of the 592 persons (284 males, 308 females) from general population, 216 of them are from Imphal West, 176 from Imphal East, 37 from Thoubal, 34 from Churachandpur, 32 from Bishnupur, 27 from Ukhrul, 26 from Kakching, 18 from Kangpokpi, 9 from Senapati, 7 from Tengnoupal, 5 from Jiribam, 3 from Chandel, and 1 each from Tamenglong and Kamjong
During the same period, 195 recovered, 162 from home isolation, 16 from SHRI, 8 from RIMS, 4 from CAPF, 2 each from RD Wing and BB and 1 from Tengnoupal. The recovery rate in the state now stands at 84.90 %.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 36,370 (General Population — 32,702 and Central Security Personnel — 1668). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 30,880 (General Population — 27,395 and Central Security Personnel — 3,485). The number of active cases is 4981 (General Population — 4803 and Central Security Personnel — 178).
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1045 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 383 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur. District Hospitals have 118 D and 100 B type filled cylinders out of these Bishnupur have (14D, 12B), Chandel ( 18D, 9B), Churachandpur (13D,18B), Senapati (9D,15B), Thoubal (25D,27B), Ukhrul (7D,B10), Tamenglong (12D, 4B) and Jiribam ( 20D, 5B).
As per latest information, the total number of persons vaccinated is 275880.
The official release further advised all persons above the age of 45 years to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and select private hospitals.
