Manipur reports significant hike of 59 positive cases Thursday

Imphal: After 44 days of reporting below 50 positive cases, Manipur registered 59 new positive cases (43 general population, 16 CAPF) in the last 24 hour leading up to 2 pm of Thursday.

During the same period, one person succumbed to Covid-19 and 10 persons recovered and were discharged, as per an official release from the Health Department.

The lone person who expired due to the deadly virus is from Imphal East, he  had co-morbidities and had not taken Covid vaccine. vaccination while the other had not taken any vaccination. The cumulative death toll of the state now stands at 2,009.

Of the 43 persons from the general population who tested positive, 10 are from Imphal West, nine from from Imphal East, six from Churachandpur and one each from Chandel Senapati, Bishnupur, Tamenglong, Thoubal and Ukhrul.  Altogether, 2,069 persons were tested amounting to a positivity rate of 2.9 %.

Meanwhile, 10 persons recovered and were discharged, eight of them from CCCsand one each from JNIMS and home isolation. The recovery rate in Manipur now stands at 98.15 %. 

The cumulative number of positive cases in the state now stands at 1, 25,964 out of which 1,23,639 have recovered, leaving 316 active cases.

The total number of doses administered on January 5, 2022, is 5,147, the cumulative number of doses administered is 23,32,610 (1st dose 13,33,098, 2nd dose 9,99,512).
