Manipur records highest single-day Covid-19 spike with over 767 cases, 14 deaths

With 767 fresh positives, the state's total tally of Covid-19 cases has reached 44090, the bulletin stated.

Imphal: Manipur continued to record a spurt in daily novel coronavirus cases as the state added more than 760 new Covid-infected patients in the last 24 hours for the first time ever since the pandemic began, as per health bulletin on Sunday.

With 767 fresh positives, the state’s total tally of Covid-19 cases has reached 44090, the bulletin stated.

Along with that, the death toll in the state touched 680-mark as 14 virus-related fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours. Two persons each from District Hospital Churachandpur and Shija Hospital, one from District Hospital Thoubal, four at RIMS and five at JNIMS were expired.

A total of 609 patients were discharged during the day. With this, its recovery count increased to 36,869, a statement from the department said.

There are 6534 active cases in the state at present. Manipur’s case recovery rate now stands at 83.61 per cent.

A total of 1293 D type Oxygen cylinders and 542 B-type Oxygen have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur.

Meanwhile, air passengers who travelled to the state on 21st May, 2021 by IndiGo 6E-6358 in rows 25-31 are advised to inform the Common Covid Control Room 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.
