Manipur records highest-ever single-day recoveries of over 4 K Covid patients; 585 new cases, 8 deaths

Imphal: Manipur recorded 585 new coronavirus cases on Friday. With this, the tally of COVID-19 cases in the state has reached over 66,756, while the death toll mounted to 1,093. As many as eight fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Manipur health department.

Manipur recorded 11 deaths and 549 fresh cases of coronavirus on Thursday. On Wednesday, the state had recorded 629 COVID-19 cases and nine fatalities.

Eight persons – one each at RIMS, Shija Hospital and Raj Medicity, two at JNIMS and three at Shija Hospital expired. Among them, one each was from Imphal West, Imphal East, and Bishnupur, two at Thoubal and three at Kakching.

According to a health bulletin issued by the Manipur government, 4,587 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

Probably for the first time in Manipur, as many as 4083 patients have been discharged or recovered on Friday. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 59,995. The recovery rate is 89.87 per cent. The number of active cases is 5,665, of which 2,339 are in home isolation.

Only 4,926 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours, totaling the number at 5,15,590 so far.

Meanwhile, the state health department has appealed to people with oxygen level (SPO2) below 94 per cent to immediately seek medical advice or shift to Covid Care Centres, Helpline numbers: Covid Control Room number -1800-345-3818, Home Isolation Helpline: 0385-2441230, 0385-2441231.
