Manipur records 847 new Covid-19 cases, 10 deaths

Imphal: Manipur recorded 847 new Covid-19 cases, the highest single-day count so far on Wednesday, taking the state’s infection tally to 46,298, while 10 fatalities pushed the death toll to 730, the state health department said.

The state’s Covid-19 recovery rate stood at 82.77 per cent, which is lower than the previous day at 83.48 per cent, the department said.

There are 7,243 active cases in the state, it added.

One person each at Shija Hospital, Raj Medicity, five at JNIMS and three at RIMS expired during the past 24 hours.

During the same period, 10 persons at RIMS, 164 at JNIMS, 336 at District Hospitals and 337 at other private testing centres were tested positive of Covid-19. At the same time, 379 people were discharged from the hospitals.

As many as 4,075 people were tested for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the number of tests done so far to 6,92,880.

Earlier during the day Chief Minister N. Biren Singh opened a 100-bedded dedicated COVID Hospital at Integrated Ayush Hospital located at Keirao in Imphal East and inaugurated a PSA Oxygen Plant, first of its kind in hill districts, at Churachandpur. He also reviewed the present COVID-19 situation of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts at Churachandpur district headquarters.

A total of 1539 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 542 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur.

As per latest information, a total of 3142 persons were vaccinated.
