Manipur records 687 fresh coronavirus cases, 19 fatalities; 1105 discharged

Imphal:  Manipur recorded 687 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday, according to data shared by the health department.

According a bulletin issued by the department on Sunday, 19 new fatalities were also recorded, pushing the death toll to 944.

Nineteen persons – one each at Babina, District Hospitals Ukhrul and Bishnupur, three each at RIMS, JNIMS, District Hospital Churachandpur, five at Shija Hospital and two at Raj Medicity expired.  Among them seven were from Imphal West, three from Imphal East, three from Thoubal, one each from Bishnupur, Kakching, Ukhrul and three were from Churachandpur.

The fresh cases came out of the record over 7,820 tests conducted during the last 24 hours, the bulletin said.

The previous highest single-day spike in Manipur – 1032 cases — was reported on May 30 this year, while on May 19, the state recorded 23 COVID-19 deaths, the highest single-day fatality count till date.

The total number of cases stood at 58,768 on Friday and over 48,902 patients have recovered from the virus so far.

The number of active cases rose to 8,922 from 9,359 a day before.

As many as 1105 patients, including 464 from home isolation, recovered from the disease in the state in a span of 24 hours.  The total number of recovered cases is considered 1105 after Reconciliation with reports from IDSP Team, Home Isolation Team, Community Home Isolation Team and Hospitalisation as on Thursday. With this, the recovery rate is 83.21 per cent, which is almost one per cent up from the previous day.

A total of 1622 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 541 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.

As per the latest information, a total of 4965 people were vaccinated in Manipur on Friday, totaling the number at 4,57,600 so far in the state.
