Manipur police bust foreign liquor manufacturing unit

The manufacturing unit was found at the residence of one Thokchom Bobo Singh, 43, son of late Thokchom Nokul Singh. The police party also seized a huge number of several items used in the manufacturing.

Imphal: Manipur police busted on Sunday an illegal Indian-made foreign liquor (IIMFL) manufacturing unit carried out at a residence in Khongjom Maning Leikai in Thoubal district. 

The manufacturing unit was found at the residence of one Thokchom Bobo Singh, 43, son of late Thokchom Nokul Singh. The police party also seized a huge number of several items used in the manufacturing.

The seized items included eight cases of 750 ml Old Monk bottles, 10 cases of half bottles containing 375 ml, 37 cartoon boxes of empty bottles, 44 bundles of cartoon boxes, 14 empty gallons used for preparing illegal liquor, four water jars, one plastic water container Red colour, one silver water container, three gunny bags containing plastic cap which was used to fit at the bottles,  three plastics jar containing suspected chemical used in the manufacturing of the IMFL illegal liquor and one roll of sticker marked as McDowell’s used for trademark. 

Thokcham (o) Bino Devi, 60, wife of Late Th. Nokul Singh of Khongjom Maning Leikai; Thokchom (o) Achoubi Devi, 40, wife of Th. Bobo Singh of Khomjong Maning Leikai were also detained at PS for further formalities.

Assam Rifles foils cross border narcotics smuggling

Meanwhile, troops of the Moreh Battalion of Assam Rifles foiled cross border smuggling of narcotics at Haolenphai village near Border Pillar,76, Manipur on Friday. 

Officials said, the troops observed a suspicious Kenbo bike coming from Myanmar side towards Indian territory along with black colour polythene. On noticing the security force’s presence, Kenbo bike riders immediately turned back with the intention to run away. Due to rigorous chase by the team, pillion rider dropped black polythene while taking advantage of the porous border, proximity to International Border. 

On detailed checking of the polythene, it contained 37 x Soap Cases containing Brown Sugar weighing approximately 1.536 kilograms. The cost of seized Brown Sugar is Rupees 3.072 Crores in the international Market.

The recovered items were handed over to Moreh Police Station for further legal proceedings,, said a press note from PROCELL, IGAR(S).

One detained with forged vehicle no, RC smart card 

Manipur traffic police detained one person, Shah Nawaz Khan, 26, son of Md Samsee Ali of Kwakta Khuman, Bishnupur district, for allegedly riding a motorcycle –  bearing Registration No. MN01AH/6524 – with forged vehicle number and RC Smart Card. 

He was arrested and handed over to  Lamphel Police Station, along with the seized vehicle for further investigation, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
