Churachandpur: Continuing his field visits to relief centres and direct engagement with internally displaced persons (IDPs), Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur, Krishna Kumar, IAS, visited three relief centres in Churachandpur town and Tuibong areas to assess the living conditions and basic needs of the displaced families today.
The Deputy Commissioner visited the Light House Cinema Hall Relief Centre, District Agriculture Office Relief Centre at Tuibong and Tuibong Community Hall Relief Centre, where he interacted with the IDPs and heard their grievances and requests. A total of 81 families, comprising more than 400 IDPs, are currently sheltered at the three relief centres.
During the interactions, the IDPs apprised the Deputy Commissioner of their grievances and basic needs. As part of a safety initiative, Shri Krishna Kumar distributed fire extinguishers to all three relief centres.
A medical team led by Dr Lalboi, under the supervision of Dr Ph. Henkhoneng Mate, Chief Medical Officer, Churachandpur, conducted free health check-ups at the relief centres. Medicines were also distributed free of cost to IDPs requiring treatment.
Officials also said fogging would be carried out at all three centres at the earliest as a preventive measure against dengue and malaria.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Seiminthang Lenthang, MCS, ADC; Shokhongam Baite, MCS, CEO/ADCC; Kimkhanching, SDC, Tuibong; and officials from various departments.
