Manipur Minister leads mass tree plantation at Waithou protected reserved forest

Speaking to the media, the Minister said that the Forest department is targeting to plant 75 lakh saplings in commemoration of 75th years of India's Independence.

Thoubal: As part of the week-long festival of tree plantation also known as Vanmahotsav, Thoubal Forest Division conducted mass tree plantation Friday at Waithou protected reserved forest. Forest and Environment Minister, Th. Bishorjit led the tree plantation. 

Speaking to the media, the Minister said that the Forest department is targeting to plant 75 lakh saplings in commemoration of 75th years of India’s Independence. He thanked the students for participating in the tree plantation. 

He said, “human beings require oxygen for survival and to meet the requirements we must plant more trees”. He urged the students to plant more trees especially on special occasions like birthdays which will be a pleasant reminder for them when they become an adult. 

Staff of Thoubal Forest Division, students of Paradise English School and NCC cadets took part in mass tree plantation.

The State Government has been organising tree plantation drive across the state to combat climate change and to inculcate the idea of forest conservation.
