Manipur launches skill training programme for displaced youth

Justice Gita Mittal expressed her deep concern and empathy for the prevailing situation in Manipur and conveyed her solidarity with the people of Manipur.

Imphal: A launching programme on ‘Launching of Skill Training for Internally Displaced Youths, Operationalisation of PHC Borobekara in Electronic Mode and Coach Certification Programme’ was held  on Friday evening. The programme was organized by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services and Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur. The event was held at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Imphal.

Justice Gita Mittal, Chairperson, Supreme Court appointed Committee on Relief and Rehabilitation in Manipur and Dr. Vineet Joshi, Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur graced the function as Chief Guest and President of the launching function respectively. 

Lenin Singh Hijam, Advocate General of Manipur; M.H. Khan, Additional Chief Secretary;  N. Kheda Varta Singh, IRS, Secretary YAS ; Hungyo Worshang, IAS, Special Secretary;  Naorem Praveen Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Electoral Officer;  Dr. Nivedita Haran, Expert in Relief & Rehabilitation; and Arghya Sengupta, Expert in Data Analysis also attended the event in the dais as esteemed guest of honours. 

Welcoming all the esteemed dignitaries, officials, experts, media fraternities, students and trainees,  Hungyo Worshang addressed the gathering that through dialogues from all the stakeholders, a positive and amicable solution can be brought out in such a prevailing situation of Manipur. 

He further asserted that under the aegis of ‘Hunar se Rozgar Tak Scheme’ and training programmes on skill development, telemedicine facilities and coach certification in Five categories will definitely support and significantly benefit many displaced youths, and will in turn, will ensure livelihoods for their respective families.  

Justice Gita Mittal, while giving her speech as the Chief Guest, emphasized the extreme need of today’s function at such a sensitive situation in Manipur. She expressed her deep concern and empathy for the prevailing situation of Manipur and conveyed her solidarity with the people of Manipur. 

She further urged everyone, particularly the displaced youths, to get enrolled and avail the opportunities provided to them through these skill training programmes. She said that, in the first phase and as a pilot project, these programmes are introduced to six districts of Manipur namely Kakching, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Imphal East and Imphal West. She assured that the remaining districts will also be covered in the nearest future.

Concluding her speech, Justice Gita Mittal appealed to all the Departments concerned to implement and accomplish the objectives of the said programmes with dedication.

As part of the function,  a virtual as well as physical interactive session with the trainees from Kangpokpi, Kakching, Bishnupur, Imphal West and Imphal East districts were also held.
