Imphal: Health and IPR Minister Dr. S. Ranjan Singh has personally visited Leimatak near Zouzangtek where a bus carrying students met with an accident. The ministerial team rushed to the accident spot as soon as the information of the incident was received.
Reaching the spot, Minister Dr. Sapam Ranajn Singh inspected the site and advised the health staff and other personnel engaged at the spot to evacuate the casualties to nearby health centers.
Speaking to the media, the minister expressed his grief and sadness about the unfortunate incident. Minister said that all possible care will be taken up for those injured persons. Instructions have been given to the officials of the medical department for proper care of the accident victims. He also expressed his gratitude to the villagers for extending voluntary help by saving many lives.
It may be mentioned that two buses carrying students and staff of Thambalnu Higher Secondary School, Yairipok, were on the annual study tour to Khoupum in Noney District. In one bus there were boys and in another there were girl students.
According to the villagers, the bus carrying the girl students suddenly lost control while taking a U-turn near Leimatak village which is six kilometers away from Zouzangtek and fell to the road below. Five persons died at the spot.
Later, Works Minister, K. Govindas, Education Minister, Th. Basantakumar Singh also visited the site.
