Imphal: State Level launching of Social Awareness and Action to Neutralise Pneumonia Successfully (SAANS) and National Newborn Week (NNW) was held on Friday at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong, Imphal. The occasion was jointly organised by the State Health Society and the Directorate of Health Services Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Health and IPR Minister of Manipur, Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh elaborated on the significance of observing SAANS and NNW. He said that Pneumonia is a common disease in children during the cold season. He stressed that preventive measures at the grassroots level and sincere efforts of the health officials and concerned staff are needed.
Dr. Ranjan maintained that awareness about the preventive care of the newborns should be given to the general public at different levels. Practicing doctors and experts need to be sincere and serious. Support staff are also required to be trained and well equipped with child care knowledge; Minister added.
Director, Health Services Manipur, Dr. Chambo Gonmei; State Mission Director, NHM Manipur, Dr. M Dinesh Singh; Director, Family Welfare, Manipur, Dr. N. Hemantakumar and Additional Director, Dr. N. Bino attended the occasion as President and Guests of Honour respectively. Officials of the Health Department and others also attended the occasion.
