Imphal: The Home Department, Government of Manipur has enhanced the fines imposed for violations of guidelines and restrictions issued by the Manipur State Disaster Management Authority and State Government in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic.
The proposed fines come into force from Tuesday, after the Manipur Epidemic Diseases (Enforcement of Covid-19 guidelines) amended Regulation, 2021 was published in the Manipur Gazette on April 20.
As per the amended Chapter III of the Regulation, the proposed penalties are :
Violation of quarantine guidelines – Rs 2 000/- on each occasion.
Failure to wear a mask in public places – Rs 1000/-
Failure to maintain social distancing in public places – Rs 1000/-
Spitting in public places – Rs 1000/-
Consumption of paan, gutka and tobacco in public places – Rs 400/-
Gathering in excess of authorized number of persons in ceremonies – Rs 20,000/-
Any other violation of guidelines – Rs 2000.
