October: The Cyber Jagrookta (Awareness) Diwas (CJD) was observed Thursday at the DC Office, Kamjong.
This diwas is an initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and is to be observed every month on the first Wednesday in all schools/college/universities/ Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRI) and Municipalities by involving District Magistrates, Police Authorities, Education Department officers etc.
Held at the DC Camp Office located at 2nd MR Battalion, the observation was attended by Deputy Commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter, IAS; ADC Shri Ningeiram Leisan; Additional SP Semmi Ramror, many DLOs and staff of the DC office.
Speaking at the event, Rangnamei emphasized the importance of cyber awareness on issues related to cyber crimes and cyber hygiene to prevent cyber crimes, phishing, online financial frauds, cyber impersonation, defamation cases etc. Observation of Cyber Jagrookta Diwas is such a step to create awareness in the society, which is now increasingly adopting digital mode of transactions, he added.
As a part of the program, Semmi Ramror gave a detailed powerpoint presentation about the various kinds of cyber crimes, the legal implications of those, and how to legally tackle such issues.
Further, the DC appealed to all the officers and employees present to stay alert from any kind of cyber crimes, and if any doubtful incidents are faced, then it should be reported to the nearest police station or the SP Cyber Crime office.
