Manipur: College teachers to start work from tomorrow

Manipur government college teachers under the aegis of the Federation of Government College Teachers’ Associations (FEGOCTA), had been on a stir demanding immediate Orders of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 as per Cabinet Approval of August 6, 2020.

FEGOCTA members addressing the media here Sunday said the decision to start work was taken after an agreement was signed between the Government and FEGOCTA yesterday. FEGOCTA appreciated Chief Minister, N. Biren, Education Minister, S. Rajen and officials for fulfilling the demands of FEGOCTA. What was missing in the earlier order issued on February 25 2021 by Higher Education will be mentioned in the new Order which will be issued in two weeks it was added.

The Government has agreed to give 7th UGC Pay notionally from 1.1.2016. Further, the arrear amount from 1.4.2019 to 31.3.2021 will be given in two instalments in July 2021 and April 2022. The cash payment of 7th UGC Pay will be made from July 2021 along with the arrears of April, May and June 2021.

As per the Cabinet decision of 6th August 2020, the Government had already agreed to adopt UGC Regulations, 2018 which prescribed the qualifications for recruitment, criteria for promotion, service conditions, duties of the teachers etc in the Colleges. FEGOCTA appealed to the government to implement yesterday’s agreement by issuing the complete Orders of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 at the earliest.
