Imphal: The Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh wished the people of Manipur, “especially our Hindu brothers and sisters on the occasion of Kang (Rath Yatra) festival”.
In his message on the occasion, he said that the celebration of the Kang festival begins on the second day of the ‘Ingen’ month of the Manipuri lunar calendar and ends on the tenth day of the same month.
“Hindus believe that the sight of Lord Jaganath on his chariot frees one from the cycle of re-birth. Devotees also make efforts to touch the ropes of the chariot, as it is believed that the Lord blesses those who pull his chariot“, the Chief Minister continued.
Joining the people of Manipur in the celebration of Kang, he prayed to Lord Jagannath to shower His believers with spiritual merit and final liberation. “May the Lord bless us with the courage to face the truth, and the State to peace and progress”, he added.
