Governor Uikey interacts with Internally Displaced Students in Manipur

Imphal: Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey interacted with internally displaced students who attended an educational tour to the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Kolkata. The interaction occurred during the flagging-in ceremony held on Sunday at Bal Vidya Mandir in Palace Compound, Imphal East.

Twenty students including 5 boys and 15 girls from Bal Vidya Mandir, participated in the tour organized by the 32 Assam Rifles. They engaged in a five-day hands-on science workshop at IISER.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Uikey emphasized the importance of such events in supporting and uplifting the talented youth of Manipur, particularly those facing the challenges of internal displacement.

She praised the students and their dedicated teachers for representing the spirit of hope and determination. During the workshop, the students were introduced to the world of scientific inquiry and innovation at IISER, Kolkata.

The Governor highlighted that the workshop was not merely a training tour but a gateway to future possibilities, inspiring students to envision themselves as future scientists, researchers, and innovators. She encouraged the young students to learn with enthusiasm and let this experience ignite their passion for science, laying the foundation for their bright futures.

Governor Uikey welcomed the initiative by Assam Rifles and IISER, acknowledging that such remarkable efforts help train the talented young students of Manipur. She expressed gratitude to IISER Kolkata for their generous support in providing accommodation and food, and to the 32 Battalion Assam Rifles for facilitating the visit. This collaborative effort, she noted, demonstrates the power of unity and a shared commitment to nurturing the future of the nation.

The Governor also congratulated the teachers whose efforts enabled the students to travel to Kolkata and receive this valuable training. She praised Bal Vidya Mandir for its invaluable contribution to education, especially under current circumstances, and acknowledged Brig. Vikram Saini, DIG, 22 Sector, Assam Rifles, and Colonel Ghanendra Pratap Singh, CO, 32 Assam Rifles, for their roles in the initiative.
