Maharashtra reports 55,411 new COVID cases, 309 deaths

The recovery rate which was rising in the previous month has now fallen to 82.18 per cent, owing to the sudden spurt in cases.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Saturday reported 55,411 new COVID-19 cases and 309 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The fresh surge in cases has taken the infections tally to 33,43,951 while the death toll soared to 57,638.

At the same time as many as 53,005 people recovered from the deadly virus, taking the number of recoveries to 27,48,153 in the state.

The recovery rate which was rising in the previous month has now fallen to 82.18 per cent, owing to the sudden spurt in cases.

On the testing front, as many as 2,18,51,235 people have been tested so far for the virus with the fatality rate standing at 1.72 per cent.

The state still has an active caseload of 5,36,682 patients, undergoing treatment at different Covid Care Centres and Hospitals.
