Chandel: Chandel and Tengnoupal are the gateways to Act East Policy of India. If he gets elected to the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha election, he would certainly launch a Special Economic Zone in Chandel district, Kachui Timothy Zimik, the common candidate of NPF, BJP and NPP alliance for the 18th Lok Sabha election from the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency announced here on Thursday.

“The people of Chandel feel that they have been neglected. Trust me! I will not fail you. Please vote for me. If I am elected, I will do my best in my capacity to bring development in Manipur and Chandel area in particular,” Zimik declared.

Speaking to a mass gathering at Leipung Tampak village, under Chandel district, Zimik, who is on a  campaigning spree for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, said that these two districts must be properly connected by highways and national highways to Kamjong and Ukhrul districts. To improve our economy, let’s create a business conducive environment. Together let us bring prosperity and ensure sustainable development for Chandel, the former IRS officer noted.

Zimik said we have many communities here in Manipur, we have been living together peacefully but now the Nagas, the Kukis and Meiteis are not happy because of the unrest in the state. Peace, he added, is essential for inclusive development. Manipur needs peace and prosperity through mutual dialogue and respect for one another.

He noted that violence begets violence. We must bring peace. The government and CSOs are giving efforts to solve the problem, however, it’s our problem, therefore, we must solve it collectively.

The NPF candidate further said that we should be the solution, and not the problems and declared that he would work to bring peace and development in Manipur if he gets elected in this election.

During the programme, Nagaland’s Deputy CM Y Patton, Nagaland’s Higher and Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along, Manipur’s Minister Awangbow Newmai; Eli SS Olish, MLA 41-Chandel, Janghemlung Panmei, MLA Tamenglong  and a large people from Chandel district also attended.
