Lok Sabha Speaker arrives in Itanagar

Itanagar: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday arrived in Itanagar on a three-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh.

He will inaugurate and address the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association India Region Zone III Conference at the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

Upon his arrival, the Speaker was accorded a grand welcome by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona, Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte, Arunachal East Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao and other dignitaries.

Taking to Twitter, Birla wrote, “Looking forward to inaugurate and address 18th CPA India Region Zone III Conference at the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly tomorrow.”

” Besides strengthening the functioning of democratic institutions, this Conference will open new avenues of development in the NE region,” the Speaker added.

Birla will also inaugurate the State Assembly’s state-of-the-art museum.
