Like Gujarat, Command & Control Centre to monitor education system in Manipur

Noney: Like Gujarat, Manipur too will have a command and control centre to monitor the education system in the state, education minister Th Basantakumar announced here on Saturday.

The Minister, who also holds the portfolios of Law and Legislative Affairs, stated that graduate teacher recruitment results will be released this month, with the hope that this will solve the problem of teacher shortages in both hill and valley districts. He added that a shortage of teachers, poor infrastructure, and transfer and posting issues are three major problems facing the department.

Basantakumar stated this while inaugurating a newly constructed building of the District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), in Longai Part-3, Noney. The building was constructed at a cost of Rs 4.24 crore. 

Manipur Education Minister Th Bashantakumar Singh said a command and control centre to monitor the education system will be set up soon in the state, like Gujarat.  

Dinganlung Gangmei, Chairman, Hill Areas Committee, and Commissioner, Education, H.Gyan Prakash, also attended the programme. 

The 30 rooms (G-plus buildings), including water supply and sanitation rooms, were constructed under the implementing agency of the Education Engineering Wing, Education (S) Department under the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

Speaking at the event, minister Bashantakumar said there are over 7,000 vacancies in teaching positions, as there has been no recruitment in the last 10 years. 

However, the minister assured that in the coming two years there will be major changes in the education sector and further added that a new system of multicolor uniforms for the students, like in private schools, will also be implemented in government schools in Manipur.

Speaking at the event, Chairman, Hill Areas Committee, Dinganlung Gangmei, said that the war on drugs should be supported by the people of Noney District. He also urged the Education Minister to take the necessary steps to ensure the continued operation of the DIET centre in Noney. The minister assured that the grievances facing the education sector in Noney District will be sorted out and solved.

The minister also distributed sports materials for the school students. He also had an interaction session with the students. The programme also showcased various cultural programmes by many cultural troupes.

The visiting minister also visited the construction site of the district court complex in Noney District, which has been going on at Rangkhung Part 1 , Noney District. He also instructed the officials and contractors to expedite the construction process before the onset of the monsoon season.
