Bhopal: Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Thakur averred on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accomplished the work of taking sports to glorious heights and is constantly working towards boosting players’ morale.
“When the Khelo India Youth Games were conducted in Haryana, many records were shattered, in which girls played a stellar role. Our young players are performing splendidly at the international level,” he was officially quoted as saying while addressing the inaugural session of the Khelo India Youth Games at the Tatya Tope Stadium in the Madhya Pradesh capital.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured that there will be no dearth of funds to hone talent.
“Eleven academies have been established for 18 sports. State players who win medals at international level shall be given prizes of Rs 5 lakh each. The sports budget has increased to Rs 347 crore from a mere Rs 5 cr,” he underlined.
