Kerala reports 173 COVID deaths, 32,803 new positive cases

Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 7 at 296 places under various Local Self Governments (LSGs) where strict restriction is being imposed.

Thiruvananthapuram: Showing no respite from rising number of COVID cases and deaths, Kerala on Wednesday reported fresh 32,803 positive cases and 173 deaths.

About 21,610 people have recovered from the disease today, a press release from the health department said this evening. Meanwhile, 173 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 20,961. About 1,74,854 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) is 18.76 %. A total of 3,17,27,535 samples have been sent for testing till this day.

Currently 5,57,085 people are under observation in the state — 5,24,380 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 32,705 in hospitals. Today, 3,227 people were admitted to the hospital with virus Infection.

In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK. So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified.
