Pherzawl: The ongoing month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, witnessed a series of community-oriented activities across Pherzawl district today, with programmes focusing on nutrition awareness, unity, nation-building, student participation and environmental conservation.
As part of Anganwadi Ka Utsav, nutrition awareness programmes were organised at Anganwadi Centres in Tuisen, Henchungpunji and other centres by the concerned ICDS officials in collaboration with ASHAs and Anganwadi Workers. Awareness sessions focused on balanced diets, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, anaemia prevention and the nutritional needs of pregnant women and lactating mothers. Demonstrations on preparing nutritious food using locally available ingredients were also conducted.
A total of 115 participants, including 35 males and 80 females, attended the programmes across the four venues. Participants interacted with health workers and expressed their commitment to promoting healthy nutrition for the well-being of children and mothers. The initiative aimed at strengthening community participation in nutrition, reducing malnutrition and ensuring healthy growth among children and mothers.
Meanwhile, a mass foot march was organised by the Office of the BDO, Parbung. Villagers, including women, youth and elders, participated in the march, carrying banners and placards through the main streets of the village. The march conveyed messages of unity, public service, cleanliness and nation-building and was flagged off from Parbung Main Bazar in the presence of District Administration officials, village authorities and local CSO leaders.
The campaign also reached schools, where Painting and Essay Writing competitions were organised at Tuipiphai Aided School, involving 15 students. At Pherzawl Government High School, an Elocution Competition was held, with students speaking on themes of service to the nation and Viksit Bharat. Teachers encouraged the students to cultivate a spirit of service, patriotism and nation-building.
In another initiative, the Pherzawl Forest Division, in collaboration with the District Administration, conducted a sapling distribution programme and roadside plantation drive at Pherzawl Village. Forty-two residents participated in the initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness and community involvement in protecting and conserving the environment.
