Kamjong reviews vibrant villages Programme-II implementation

The programme aims to improve infrastructure, connectivity, and livelihood opportunities in strategic border villages along India's international borders.

Kamjong: Deputy Commissioner, Kamjong L.N. Kashung chaired a meeting of concerned officials, to discuss the implementation of Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) -II concerning Kamjong District, at his office chamber at Camp Office, 2nd Manipur Rifles complex today.

Additional Deputy Commissioner H.L. Jain, Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and District Level Officers attended the meeting among others.

During the meeting, L.N. Kashung stressed the importance of taking up initiatives to improve the livelihood of villagers through proper implementation of the programme. He also asked the officials of the district to visit villages and reach out to the residents.

While discussing the guidelines of the Vibrant Villages Programme -II, he directed the line departments to prepare work proposals in consultation with villagers and concerned SDOs. He further expressed the need to incorporate operation and maintenance in the core of any projec being proposed.

It may be mentioned that the Vibrant Villages Programme- II is aimed at comprehensive development of strategic villages along India’s international land borders, by providing critical infrastructure, livelihood opportunities and connectivity among others. Three blocks of Kamjong District including Kamjong, Kasom Khullen and Sahamphung are included in the programme.

Later in the afternoon, Deputy Commissioner, Kamjong L.N. Kashung also chaired the District Level NCORD Committee meeting which was attended by Superintendent of Police, Kamjong Tholu Rocky, Divisional Forest Officer, Kamjong Division Nepolean Rongmei, officials of concerned departments and security agencies among others.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the action and enforcement measures taken up by concerned departments to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in the district. He further sought cooperation among law enforcement and security agencies to effectively tackle the drug menace.
