Thoubal: The Zonal Education Office/District Project Office, Samagra Shiksha, Thoubal, hosted the Kala Utsav on Saturday at the Counting Hall, DC Complex, Thoubal.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students of various government and private schools across the district. Competitions were conducted in six categories: vocal music, instrumental music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and traditional storytelling. Winners of the district-level contests will advance to the state-level competition scheduled for later this year.
Kala Utsav, a flagship initiative by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, was launched in 2015 to nurture and highlight the artistic talents of secondary school students. The program annually provides a platform for students to explore and celebrate artistic and cultural diversity across different levels.
Of special note is N. Changkhomba Singh from Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School, Thoubal District, who secured 1st position at the national level in the “folk vocal music” category during the 2023-24 competition held in Delhi.
