Kakching: The district-level celebration of the 77th Van Mahotsav for Kakching district was held today at Langmeidong playground under the aegis of the Thoubal Forest Division.
MLA Dr. Yumnam Radheshyam of Hiyanglam AC attended the event as the Chief Guest, Angeline Renita R, IAS Deputy Commissioner of Kakching district graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and Dr. Leishangthem Jeeceelee, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Thoubal Forest Division attended as President of the function.
As part of the 77th Van Mahotsav celebration, 120 saplings were planted with the participation of around 300 people. Also, 900 tree seedlings were distributed to encourage plantation and environmental conservation across the district.
The function was also attended by Khwairakpam Tompok Sub-Divisional Officer, Waikhong, SDC Waikhong, representatives of local CSOs, Village Level Federations, students, local volunteers, members of the Joint Forest Management Committee and chairpersons along with members of the Administrative Committees of Hiyanglam, Waikhong, Arong Nongmaikhong, Langmeidong, Mayeng Lamjao and Sekmaijin Gram Panchayats.
Range Forest Officer Laishram Dinesh Singh, officials and staffs of the Forest Department also participated in the plantation drive.
