Journalist pension increased from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000: Assam IPR Min

The minister said that the family of journalists who has died prematurely, but under normal circumstances, will now receive one-time posthumous assistance of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.

Guwahati: The Assam Information and Public Relations Minister Pijush Hazarika Thursday said that journalist pension amount has been increased from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,00.

The minister said that the family of journalists who has died prematurely, but under normal circumstances, will now receive one-time posthumous assistance of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.

“Today, I met representatives of AAPCU, AUWJ, & APJAEMF to discuss posthumous assistance to families of journalists who passed away prematurely. The decisions include an increase in pension amount issued by Assam govt. and one-time assistance of Rs 1 lac to Rs.3 lac,” Hazarika tweeted.
