JD(U), NPF to support BJP in Manipur

The JD(U) appealed to the BJP to honour the mandate reposed on the party and fulfil the hopes and aspiration of the people of Manipur, the statement added.

Imphal: The Janata Dal (United) with six members and NPF with five members each will be supporting the BJP in Manipur. BJP commands absolute majority with 32 members.

The party legislators of JD(U) unanimously elected Khumukcham Joykisan Singh as the Leader of Legislature Party of JD(U) in the presence of Afaque Ahmad Khan, National General Secretary, Incharge North-East, Senchumo Nsn Lotha, Convenor, North East Executive Council, JD(U) and Aneel Hegde, National Returning Officer, JD(U), said Mohammad Nisar, Office Secretary in a media statement on Saturday.

The JD(U) selected Ngursanglur Sanate, as the Deputy Leader of Legislature Party of JD(U) and Mohd. Abdul Nasir as the Chief Whip of the JD(U). Further, in the interest of the people of Manipur, the JD(U) has decided to give support to the BJP in the formation of the Government.

The JD(U) appealed to the BJP to honour the mandate reposed on the party and fulfil the hopes and aspiration of the people of Manipur, the statement added. The six JD U members were in Patna to discuss the political development after the elections.

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has also decided to support the BJP. As it was an ally in the previous government, the party is expecting some good portfolios this time, an NPF leader said. Independent MLA , Nishikanta had also extended supported to the BJP.
