Lawngtlai: District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Lawngtlai District organised Jal Shakti Abhiyaan – Catch the Rain (Rainwater Harvesting) campaign, 2021 at BDO BNRGSK Hall, Lawngtlai Tuesday.
Project Director, DRDA Lawngtlai, Marilyn Rualzakhumthangi, chaired the function while, Deputy Commissioner Lawngtlai, Dr Andrew H. Vanlaldika was the chief guest of the occasion.
Representatives from village councils of Lawngtlai town were invited to attend the campaign. Er T. Mangliandinga, SDO, PHED Lawngtlai Division gave a powerpoint presentation on rainwater harvesting and conservation. Pu R. Malsawmdawngliana Khawlhring, Programme Assistant, DRDA Lawngtlai presented a paper on the scarcity of water and the need to recharge groundwater and water bodies. A paper on Jal Shakti Abhiyaan – Catch the Rain prepared by Pu Samson Thanruma, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Chhimtuipui Wildlife Division, Lawngtlai was also distributed.
