JAC threatens cease work strike if Manipur govt fails to clear salary backlog

Imphal: The Joint Administrative Committee (JAC) of the All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and the All Manipur Government Employees Organisation (AMGEO), has decided to launch an indefinite cease-work strike immediately if the government fails to release the backlog salaries of employees up to the month of May 2022.

The decision of the JAC was conveyed in a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister N Biren on Monday, signed by its president Ch Chandramani Singh.

The JAC is also demanding disbursement of salaries of employees and pension of pensioners on time and on a regular basis at par with the employees of the Secretariat and Home Department effective from the month of July 2022.

The memorandum also stated that the JAC has taken a very serious note of the attitude of the government towards the unjust and preferential treatment meted out to the employees with regard to payment of monthly salaries. This the JAC said, “is an attempt to divide the employees’ community”.
