Eat Right Walkathon, Mela held at Thoubal Mela Ground

In his speech the Deputy Commissioner urged people to select the right food products which will make our bodies fit and healthy.

Thoubal: As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahatsav, Food Safety Administration Thoubal under the aegis of District Administration Thoubal organised Monday. The theme of the mela was “Eat Right, Eat Safe and Eat Sustainable “. 

Deputy Commissioner,Thoubal, A.Subhash Singh; SP Thoubal, Jogeshchandra Haobijam and CMO Thoubal, Dr. Y.Nokul Singh were the chief guest, guest of honour and president of Monday’s function.

In his speech the Deputy Commissioner urged people to select the right food products which will make our bodies fit and healthy. He said there are people who are still unaware of food safety and that these kinds of programmes are beneficial for them. He also said that people are now focussing on using organic food items because of the various health hazards caused by fertilizer and pesticides in food products. He appealed to the parents/guardians of students to provide them with the right kind of food which is nutritious. He stated that junk foods must be avoided at all cost as it has no nutritional value and is hazardous to the human body. 

In his speech, Jogeshchandra Haobijam said we must take care of our bodies by eating the right food and should inculcate the habit of regular exercise in our daily lifestyle. He said most of us take care of health only when suffering from a serious illness. He urged the people to take care of their health from the early stage of life.

Dr Y. Nokul  Singh also spoke in length on the importance of taking the right food and regular medical checkup to prevent various diseases and detect them during the early stage. 

As part of the Eat Right Mela, a walkathon was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner from the CMO office which culminated at the venue of the function at Mela Ground. Hundreds of participants including staff of CMO, volunteers of NYK, and various organizations took part in the Walkathon.
