International Yoga Day observed at Meghalaya Raj Bhavan

The programme was organised by the NCC Directorate, NER and Group HQ, Shillong on the theme "Yoga for Self and Society," which emphasises yoga's impact on personal well-being and community health.

Shillong: Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan, on Friday led the International Yoga Day celebrations held at Raj Bhavan, Shillong. 

The programme was organised by the NCC Directorate, NER and Group HQ, Shillong on the theme “Yoga for Self and Society,” which emphasises yoga’s impact on personal well-being and community health.

The Governor along with the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Harish Chandra Chaudhary, IFS, Additional Director, NCC, NE region, Maj Gen. Gagan Deep, 700 cadets of the NCC, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan performed the asanas under the guidance of experienced yoga instructor Bramachari Prem Swaroop from the Art of Living. 

The first International Yoga Day was observed on June 21, 2015, after the UN General Assembly declared the same day as the International Yoga Day. The resolution was moved by India and co-sponsored by a large number of nations.
