It may be noted that workers from Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and even from North India are working in about 500 industrial units at the Saidarapet Industrial estate.

It was alleged that the government order to provide 60 percent reservation for local workers in the industrial units was not implemented as also many other industrial laws in the industrial units.

Later, the trade union volunteers staged a road blockade in the area, and the talks police had with them failed.
