Indian Army honours young achievers in Manipur

The event commenced with the acknowledgement of the efforts of the students, teachers and their families by the Red Shield Centre for Wellness and Excellence, popularly known as Manipur Super-50 classes

Kohima: The Indian Army felicitated outstanding young achievers of the state of Manipur Super-50 programme in an event held in Bishnupur. 

The event was attended by Lourenbam Bikram, IAS, DC Bishnupur, and S Ravi Kumar, IPS, SP Bishnupur along with senior Army officers. Among those felicitated were six bright students from the Manipur Super-50 classes who successfully cleared the JEE Mains Examination 2024. In addition, four Wushu players who achieved accolades at the state and national levels were also felicitated.

The event commenced with the acknowledgement of the efforts of the students, teachers and their families by the Red Shield Centre for Wellness and Excellence, popularly known as Manipur Super-50 classes. Six students namely Sahid Ali, Oinam Ronenson Singh, Roshan Kumar Gupta, Honghsha Shelpungman, Ronaldo Yumnam & Sashikanta Singh under the mentorship of the Army and NEIDO, cleared the 2024 JEE Mains in their first attempt.  

Following this, the Wushu players Tamphasana Devi, N Bidiyasagarh Singh, Koijam Yaisana Devi, and A Gracy Devi, medalists in various prestigious competitions including Khelo India, East Zone, North East Games, and Sub-Junior National Championships, were recognized for their remarkable contributions to the sport & were honoured for their outstanding achievements.

Additionally, Master Thomas Singh, a courageous young Wushu player from Thanga, who displayed remarkable resilience after overcoming an accident during the Wushu Championships in February 2024, was also acknowledged for his fighting spirit and determination. The felicitation ceremony underscored the Indian Army’s commitment to empowering and motivating the youth of Bishnupur.  

The achievement of the students and sports persons stands as a beacon of inspiration for the youth in these challenging times. Their stellar achievements demonstrate the passion, grit and determination to overcome adverse situations and fulfil their aspirations. Indian Army is proud to support any such endeavour and will always foster young talent in various fields, thus providing wings to their dreams.
