Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday recorded 532 new Covid19 cases – the highest single-day surge in infection in the third wave, a senior health official said.

On the contrary, 132 Covid patients have recuperated from the ailment during the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered cases to 55,861.

Of the new infections, Itanagar Capital Complex contracted the highest 181 cases, followed by Lower Dibang Valley at 49, Tirap (45), Namsai (43), Changlang (36), Lohit (34), Papum Pare (26), West Kameng (24), Tawang (20), East Siang (19), Lower Subansiri (16) and Upper Siang (14).

Of the total cases, 251 were found to be asymptomatic and 281 symptomatic, the official said, adding that the day’s positivity rate was logged at 34.43 percent against the previous day’s 27.41 per cent.

Arunachal Pradesh has tested 1545 samples for Covid19 that took its cumulative figure to 12,24,473.

With no fresh casualty being reported in the period the Northeastern Covid fatalities remained static at 282, he said.
