HP Assembly’s monsoon session to start from Aug 2

Vidhan Sabha Secretary Yashpal Sharma told UNI that outgoing Guv of Himachal Pradesh Bandaru Dattatreya has given the assent to convene the monsoon session on the advice of state council of minister recently.

Vidhan Sabha Secretary Yashpal Sharma told UNI that outgoing Guv of Himachal Pradesh Bandaru Dattatreya has given the assent to convene the monsoon session on the advice of state council of minister recently.
He said that there would be a total of 10 sittings of the house from August 2 to 13 with two days break on Saturday and Sunday.
Two days would be dedicated to private member bills or resolutions on each Thursday on August 5 & 13.
This session would be extended to 10 days to complete the minimum requisite 35 sittings or meetings in a year and to keep the Winter Session short at Dharmshala in wake of the third wave of the Covid pandemic.
He said that the Monsoon Session normally last for five to six days annually but since the state assembly could not complete the minimum 35 sitting last year due to the pandemic, the session has been prolonged for 10 days first time to complete most of the sitting.
This would be the longest ever Monsoon Session in unicameral legislative assembly history and it will enable to complete 27 annual meetings of assembly as 17 sittings were already completed during the budget session earlier this year.
Sharma said that as many as 30 Vidhan Sabha queries are raised online by the member of the assembly and state government would come up with the Vidhan Sabha agenda.
Sharma said that the session would begin with four obituary references on the first days of the session, including former Chief Minister and sitting member of assembly from Arki Virbhadra Singh, Vidhan Sabha Chief Whip of Vidhan Sabha and sitting member of assembly from Jubbal-Kotkhai Mr Narinder Bragta and two other members who died in between the Budget and monsoon session during this year.
The house is likely to adjourn on the very first-day monsoon session on the demise of two sitting members however the house likely to discuss the obituary references and pay tribute to the former members who died since the last session.
