Imphal: Around 76 percent of students cleared the Manipur High School Leaving Certificate 2022 examination, with the girls outperforming the boys, the authorities said while declaring the results here on Friday.

The success rate is the highest in the last ten years.

Education Minister Th Basanta said the pass percentage in government schools was around 60t which was much less than that of the private schools. The government and the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) which conducted the examinations, however, are “not discouraged” by the performance of the government schools, he said.

He said the focus is to declare the results on time, and the government wants more students to appear for the matriculation examinations for which the roles of the government schools is important.

The pass percentage of girls was higher than the boys and it showed the government’s efforts to educate girls have been successful, Basanta said. As the number of students has been increasing, the government would try to appoint more teachers.
