Heavy rain likely to occur in Telangana in next 24 hrs: MeT

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at a few places in Telangana during the next five days, the bulletin said.

Hyderabad: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal districts of Telangana during the next 24 hours, Meteorological Centre said on Sunday.

In a bulletin here, it said thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely to occur at isolated places in few districts of Telangana during the next 48 hours.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at a few places in Telangana during the next five days, the bulletin said.

The Southwest Monsoon has been normal in Telangana during the last 24 hours.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Hyderabad district and heavy rain occurred at isolated places in the Suryapet district of Telangana during the same period.

Rain occurred at a few places in Telangana during the last 24 hours, the bulletin added.

Meanwhile, in a Special bulletin here, Met said the cyclonic circulation over the north Andaman Sea & neighbourhood extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level persists.

Under its influence, a Low-Pressure Area is likely to form over the same region during the next 36 hours. It is likely to become more marked and move west- northwestwards towards south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts during subsequent 4 to 5 days.

An East-west Trough runs from cyclonic circulation over the north Andaman sea and neighbourhood to cyclonic circulation over the east-central Arabian Sea across Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Telangana, North Interior Karnataka and south Maharashtra at 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Mainly low-level North-Westerlies/Northerlies prevail over the state, the bulletin added.
