Gram Swarojgar Yojana: Making rural youth truly ‘Aatm-Nirbhar’

The UP government intends to create a platform for rural youths to have sustainable and self-reliant ways of living. For this, skill training is being provided to them so that along with the youth, the villages can be developed too.

Under the Mahatma Gandhi Food processing rural self-employment scheme, the youth is not only establishing their own business but are also generating employment opportunities for others. By availing benefits from the scheme, the farmers and youth of the village are becoming entrepreneurs and earning their livelihood, officials here on Wednesday said.

The UP government intends to create a platform for rural youths to have sustainable and self-reliant ways of living. For this, skill training is being provided to them so that along with the youth, the villages can be developed too.

At the Panchayat level, the youth is being linked to a 3-day food processing awareness camp through the Mahatma Gandhi Food Processing rural self-employment scheme. One-month entrepreneurship development training is being given to the youth associated with the scheme.

After being trained, the farmers and youth are setting up units of fruit-vegetable, spices, milk, grain processing, among others. They are also providing employment opportunities to other unemployed youth of the village.

Under the scheme, a maximum of 50 per cent of the cost of the machine or equipment and a grant of Rs. 1 lakh is also being given to the youth set up a food processing unit.
