Imphal: Governor La Ganesan and chief minister N Biren led the way in extending greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
In his message to the people of the state, La Ganesan said that Diwali is one of the biggest festivals of the Hindus and is celebrated across the length and breadth of the country. The festival, “signifies the triumph of the good over evil and the illumination on the day marks the joy and happiness on the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana”, he added.
Praying for peace and prosperity of the state, governor Ganesan said, “let the light of Diwali dispel hatred, enmity and disunity among the people of the state”.
Chief Minister N Biren in his greeting to the people of the state on Diwali said that Diwali, “symbolizes the victory of righteousness over evil, brightness over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and truth over falsity”.
On this auspicious occasion, Biren called on all “to share our happiness just as a lamp lightens many lamps by sharing its flame”. “Let the festival bring happiness, light bring delight, peace prosperity and good health to each and every house of our state’, he added.
Ministers Th Biswajit, Anwangbo Newmai, O Lukhoi, among others also joined in extending Diwali greetings to the people of Manipur.
