Gangtok: Governor of Sikkim, Laxhman P Acharya
conferred degrees to students at 1st Convocation of Khangchendzonga
State University, Sikkim.
He gave away Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and certificates. He was
joined by Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly Arun Upreti and
Minister for Education Kunga Nima Lepcha and Additional Chief
Secretary Education R Telang.
Altogether 3 batches of 68 students from 20,-21,-22,of MA in Nepali and Sanskrit were awarded degrees.
Two each per batch and in both the languages were awarded Gold and Silver
medals. Soon Bhutia, Lepcha and Limboo language courses would be
started at the university.
Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya also the Chancellor of KSU, declared
the Convocation open. He impressed the audience by speaking in Nepali
language, the lingua franca of Sikkim.
He expressed happiness “Happy to see huge gathering of Student, and more so as the girls have appeared to have outnumbered the male and they are the strength of the country. They are not a burden but our strength.We all see success linked to us. I am confident the Youth will make the nation progress,” said the Governor.
He asked them to pledge that they will make the country proud
of them and the degree will be further illuminated.
Speaker SLA Arun Upreti described it as a historic occasion. He assured
that the infrastructure for the Institution is being built at a fast
speed.
