Agartala: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday hosted a joint cultural event with its Bangladesh counterpart at Akhaura Integrated Check Post in Agartala to mark the golden jubilee celebration of Independence of Bangladesh highlighting the contribution of Indian forces in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
The BSF felicitated the war veterans in the event and remembered their performance in the 1971 liberation war. A Coffee Table Book on the golden Jubilee of Bangladesh Liberation was also released in the programme by the Information and Cultural Affairs Minister of Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury and senior BSF officials.
The BSF officials said such events at the border would certainly further boost the spirit of amity and confidence of the border populace on both sides of the international boundary as well as the relation between border guards of both the countries would strengthen, which would contribute to the Indo-Bangladesh relationship in trade, business and human resource development.
Moreover, all such friendly events are to enhance cooperation and goodwill between the two countries and also to increase the friendly relationship between the people residing in the bordering areas, said information minister Chowdhury.
